Desirée Dawson is a singer-songwriter born in Vancouver BC and was raised in White Rock BC. Desirée loves to draw inspiration for her songs from the events in her crazy life and throughout the lives of the amazing people she meets everyday. She states, “ I am in love with emotions! I love reading people, and places and living new experiences for myself and then writing about it all.” She has recently caught a severe case of the travel bug and constantly feels the need to immerse herself in many beautiful cultures other then her own. She recently travelled to Ghana, West Africa where she worked at Grace Masak Orphanage with one of her best friends. Her experiences travelling have shaped her personally and musically.
She says, “Having an instant connection through music to almost every new person I met in Africa, even where there was a language barrier, was the most amazing experience. I felt at home and at peace even though I was so far from my home. Learning that music is so universal was so life changing to me.” When she is not playing her Ukulele, Piano, or singing, you can find her in a headstand at Yoga! She says that through her yoga practice she found her true voice and her confidence to pursue her dreams. When asked about what music means to her, Desirée says, “I love how a group of completely different people can be brought together by one song. Music has the power to stir up the deepest emotions, it is therapeutic and the most effective healer. For these reasons and so many more, music is my life”.
Desirée now lives in Vancouver and can be found playing shows and open mics solo and with her band Rée!. She is also in the process of recording her first EP and is so excited to share it with the world! Follow her journey on Facebook, Youtube or Instagram under “Desirée Dawson”.
